Prof. Zephrinus Chidubem Njoku

Professor Zephrinus Chidubem Njoku is a distinguished educator and researcher with expertise in Science and Technology Education. He is the Director of the Institute of Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and a full professor since 2006. A native of Amuzi in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State, Prof. Njoku’s academic journey began at St. Jude’s Primary School, Amuzi, and included earning his Bachelor of Education in Chemistry/Zoology from the University of Ibadan and his Master’s and Ph.D. in Science Education (Chemistry) from UNN. With a career spanning over four decades, Prof. Njoku has significantly contributed to education through teaching, research, mentorship, and leadership. He has successfully supervised 26 Ph.D., 35 Master’s, and 58 undergraduate students and published over 140 research articles, books, and book chapters. Beyond his academic achievements, Prof. Njoku is a recognized leader in community development, gender equity advocacy, and educational innovation. He has developed policies, facilitated workshops, and spearheaded initiatives aimed at improving Science, Technology, and Mathematics (STM) education, particularly for girls.
