Prof. Chioma Assumpta Anosike

Chioma Assumpta Anosike is a Professor of Pharmacological Biochemistry in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She graduated in 1998 from the Department of Biochemistry, obtained her M.Sc in Nutrition and Toxicology in 2004 and Ph.D in Pharmacological Biochemistry in 2011, all from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Her area of Specialization is Pharmacological and Nutritional Biochemistry. She teaches basic biochemistry courses; Protein and Carbohydrate Metabolism, Food and Membrane Biochemistry to undergraduate students. She also teaches courses in Advanced Metabolism, pharmacological, Nutritional and Industrial Biochemistry to post-graduate students. She supervises undergraduate final year research project, M.Sc dissertation and Ph.D thesis in Nutritional and Pharmacological biochemistry. Her research interests and activities are on plants used for human nutrition and their roles in the treatment and management of immunological and inflammatory diseases. She has published over 70 papers on inflammatory and related health disorders in several peer reviewed local and international journals. She has attended and presented papers in more than 25 conferences and workshops, both locally and internationally. She is a reviewer for many scientific journals and an associate editor for two journals. She is also an external examiner to many Universities, for both undergraduate and post graduate students, in the Department of Biochemistry, She has successfully supervised over 100 undergraduate research projects, fifteen (25) M.Sc. dissertations and eight (8) PhD thesis.
